"NEVER GIVE UP!"
Life is full of detractors and pretenders...
But nothing is worse than someone you trust - who tells you they believe in you - while all along planning to "jump ship" leaving you stranded - abandoning you in the middle of the ocean without a life preserver...
What I'm talking about is the worst kind of betrayal. It can leave you in a state of shock and disbelief. Because when it happens it often comes as a surprise. It was the last thing you ever expected from someone you trusted with your dreams...
There will be people in your life who want to believe in you but actually lack the basic ability to believe in themselves. They will tell you they believe in you - tell you they're committed and for a time go through the motions with actions that seem to support what you believe is their true intent...
But ultimately - at a time when real commitment and personal resolve is on the line - you may find yourself surprised and stunned - to find yourself suddenly all alone...
The one you counted on the most - turns their back on you and walks away.
This situation, one that's happened to all of us at one time or another - is the true "crossroads" of our life and the ultimate test of our own belief and resolve. If you need someone else to reaffirm your own belief in your dreams - then you have truly built a house of cards.
The real test life gives you is the chance to realize all you needed was to believe in yourself - no matter what.
Life will always be full of people that will be for a lack of a better description "drive bys" and "go alongs"... Often individuals who never had any real dreams of their own - these people will "glom-on" to your energy and your momentum - and you may even come to rely on their validation.
But, if a time arises when they - for whatever reasons - abandon you - this becomes the most important moment in your life - the moment when it's possible for you to go "deeper" into your own resolve and belief than you've ever journeyed before... And uncover a part of yourself you never knew before.
The great opportunity you have been given is to recognize that your dreams and what it really takes to make your dreams a reality - all resides within you... right now - and it's always been that way.
Not in someone else - not in their validation or approval or "fair weather friend's commitment".
It all comes down to you, your imagination, focus and belief.
No one can change what your ultimate reality will be but yourself. You have the power of the Universe waiting for you to accept the truth of your dreams becoming your reality.
Nobody other than yourself can provide this for you - It all resides within you right now... If you can imagine it - and it brings joy to your heart - you can make it your reality!
So, when life brings you the unexpected devastation of someone you trusted - breaking that sacred trust with you. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and take the new more powerful person you will become from that experience - and go forward - because you will be closer than at any time to making your dreams a reality...
There's an old Russian proverb: "Adversity is the fire that tempers the steel"...
Your ultimate success will be in direct proportion to whatever you had to go through in order to "peal back" those layers of personal resistance - that had been holding you from experiencing your dreams... And you may one day come to realize that it was indeed your dependence upon someone else's validation that was actually the roadblock preventing your success.
